R&R on the Simon Kenton Trail - A Winter cycling adventure

Image
March 7, 2020   We didn't let winter pass before experiencing it up close and personal on this bike tour! The 35 mile bikeway tour began in Urbana, OH with Brewfontaine Brewery in Bellefontaine, OH as the turnaround spot and a tasty treat stop along the way (cleverly positioned for those of us with a sweet tooth) at City Sweets & Creamery. Points of interest: Simon Kenton Trail, Oldest Concrete Street in America Historical Marker, a restored train depot, McKinley Street (the shortest street in America!), George Bartholomew statue, and Mad River Wilderness Area.

R&R for Buffalo, Bites, and Beverages Bike Tour - Columbus to Galloway, OH

Of course there aren't any buffalo in Ohio - but there are bison! Bring a camera and let's see if we can get any to pose for a CycleNuts tour picture. This is a 25 mile tour with a nice trail-side refreshment stop midway. Route is 74% bikeway (a mix of paved and crushed stone) with CycleNuts 50% downhill guarantee. Expect touring time allowed for Battelle Darby Creek Nature Center and buffalo viewing. Points of interest: Camp Chase Trail/Ohio-to-Erie Trail, Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park and Nature Center, Darby Dan Farm's practice race track, Big Run Metro Park ("one of the largest parks" in the Cbus metro park system and "home to one of the few non-roadway [soap box] derby hills in the country", and Darby Creek Trail.
