I think it has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world. It gives women a feeling of freedom and self-reliance. I stand and rejoice every time I see a woman ride by on a wheel…the picture of free, untrammeled womanhood.” ~ Susan B. Anthony ** **  “The bicycle will inspire women with more courage, self-respect, and self-reliance and make the next generation more vigorous of mind and of body.” ~ Elizabeth Cady Stanton *  *** "I am delighted with my wheel. I am equally as fond of it as my horse." ~ Annie Oakley, American Sharpshooter * **** "True unity brings together all. It celebrates all days on the bike for every purpose and every person. It doesn’t matter what you ride, where you ride, or why you ride. It matters that you ride." ~ Heidi Meyers ****** ***** "WTV it is...Ride it!" ~ CycleNuts *s

LoST along the Tuscarawas River + Canal Boat Tour in Canal Fulton

Image
LoST along the Tuscarawas River + Canal Boat Tour in Canal Fulton This adventure was Summertime perfect. The weather was just right, combining a little bit of heat with a gentle breeze. The level trail mixed it up with segments of asphalt and crushed stone as it wove through historical remembrances of the canal era of American history. In Canal Fulton, a pair of horses tugged us back into time aboard the St. Helena III Canal Boat, our imaginations fueled by the captain's informative narration of an era where canal transportation transformed American life.  The midway stop at Rockne's in Massillon proved tasty and refreshingly cool, and worth a revisit. And the tasty treat stop at Cherry Street Creamery is so convenient... and delicious... being right along the towpath! Topping off this Towpath treasure was the excellent company whom I shared the adventure with. Tour data: Average speed 11.1 MPH, Total distance 35.3 miles, Saddle time 3.17 hours, Total tour time 6.5 hours.

BYOB (Bring Your Own Basket) Picnic Tour - Inniswood Gardens, OH

Image
Pack your lunch for this fun cross town adventure to "one of the premier botanical gardens in the midwest." Inniswood Gardens is "a natural woodland...home to native wildflowers, wildlife and waterways which provides a majestic backdrop to... beautifully landscaped gardens and lawns." source: https://www.inniswood.org/ This tour was a success. The company was excellent. The weather perfect. And the expertly planned route allowed us to escape the crowded bikeways to and from our destination.--- We arrived at Inniswood just as the full capacity barricades were being set. Even still, this beautifully designed park was not overcrowded with visitors. The picnic area even had enough tables for each of us to socially distance ourselves while enjoying our picnic lunches.--- Tour data: Total distance 26.28 miles, Maximum speed 21.4 MPH, Average speed 11.4 MPH, Saddle time 2 hours 17 minutes, Total tour time 4 hours.
